I am currently flying a 582 X-Air down to Willingale and it seems a tad sluggish !!!

I am needing 5500 -6000rpm to maintain 55-60mph !!!! Now I know they are leisurely in speed, but I thought it should be faster than that at 5500-6000rpm !!!!

Yesterday it took 90mins to cover 50miles distance in the headwind !!! avg speed 33mph !!! and used nearly 35 litres !!!!

Peter, my Xair gives me 52kts at 5700-5800 2 up at about 16lph. 1 up I'm about 5400-5500 for 52kts at around 14lph. 1up at 6000rpm would probably see me somewhere around the 60kts mark, maybe more. Just thought I'd give you some figures for comparison. :)

Cheers,
Ben.

52kts = 60mph so close to what I am getting ?
60kts = 70mph which is what I briefly saw at 6000rpm !!! but emphasis on the word 'Briefly'

Just got back from refuelling and it looks like the 90 minutes used 27 litres as that was what the Farm strip scales calculated my uplift as !!!! which would seem to be 18lph
The markers on the tank showed only 30 litres remaining, so that line is Incorrect !!!

Also noticed the compass is 90degrees incorrect !!!

Will make an interesting trip south due to compass errors ;-)

Yeah I was going to say, similar to mine. Possibly slightly more inefficient. What do the other 582 Xair boys on here get?

I little worrying about the compass though, good job you picked it up early. :)

Yes the compass was initially a problem !!!! I departed Perth and knew I should see the M90 soon after take off !!!!! well as it is about 180deg as a heading I selected that as my heading and saw the hdg giving me a very wide road ahead !!!!
RESULT ;-)

I flew down the side of the A9 thinking I was flying down the M90 !!!!! Amazingly I never saw the landmarks I expected, so when I noticed the Loch Leven Pond way off to my left I realised I had monumentally mucked up and then headed towards the Forth Road Bridges to get on my track !!!! very strange heading south and having a compass showing 090degrees !!!!

I owned a lovely Xair a few years ago and it was very good, I could fly all day at 60 mph at 5,250 rpm burning 12lph. It had a c type gear box on a rebuilt silver top 582. Great fun, I miss her still.
