Merry Christmas Everyone :-)

Thanks, would have missed that :-)
Would be great to see G-TIDY over at Chatteris :-) There is no parachuting on Mondays...
We got a similar view at Chatteris.

A fair point Sam. I would be the one who turned back, diverted, or got home 2 day later than everyone else. I got laughed at once for turning back instead of flying over high ground at 500ft in mist...
I manage to do around 250 hours each year with taking unnecessary risks with the weather, I will do circuits down to vis of 5k and 900ft cloud base, but would never set off on a cross county flight...
Certainly most VFR into IMC fatals involve a VFR pilot with very little IMC training in an aircraft equipped for IMC, the recent TB10 one is a classic example. I'd guess the fact that these aircraft...
Hello and Welcome :-)

True, we have several 390kg microlights at Chatteris although none of them fly regularly so cost per hour not really an issue for the owners. We also have a GT450 in the hanger that was abandoned by...
True for sole owners, I'm thinking more of groups and schools. I'd guess there are at least as many microlight pilots in groups as sole owners, not sure if there are any stats on that?
Trouble is you would then get though 5 x 582s instead of 1 x 912 and fuel costs would be much higher with the 582.
I think a better option is this engine, it's cheaper than a 582 and will last...
At the moment I work on the assumption that a 912 will last for at least 3000 hours, based on the fact that I know of several beyond that including one in our hanger. The aircraft I learnt to fly on...
The problem is there is very little data on real world engine costs hence relying on the experience of others and building our own picture.
I have nothing against Jabiru engines but worry that I...
I hear horror stories about the Rotax 912 and Jabiru but many more about the Jabiru and involving bigger bills at lower hours. This leads me to make the assumption that the 912 is a far cheaper...
Sharing the money between you seems the fairest :-)
I saw a couple of near misses at Popham, a guy in a Foxbat almost hit a friend's aircraft and would have gone right into the tail of a Thruster...
I'll be there tomorrow :-)
Congratulations Pete :-)
Weather was not too bad at Chatteris, we could even see the windsock at one point :-)
Congratulations :drinkingcheers:
