Romantic trips from Cambridge for the weekend

    Dear Fellow pilots,

In order to get the best out of my lover and my aircraft. I plan to take her places that have amenities near the end of the runway. For example Weybourne is on the beach and if nothing else a roll in the sand dunes and bar of chocolate may be enjoyed at this location.

Can anyone suggest any good weekend cross country routes that may involve something at the other end, such as food board lodging or a good view.

    many thanks

    Simon

For an afternoon or evening flight try Pitsford reservoir just west of Sywell. Landing contribution to air ambulance I think.
You can walk down to the visitor center for a cuppa and also walk right round resevoir if thats what you fancy.
Otherwise just look at the view and eat a picnic. No toilet facilities on airfield though there are hedges!
Cromer /Northrepps always good and you can walk to the beach in about an hour good food on the airfield or eat in the pub in northrepps.

Try Great Massingham and lunch at the Dabbling Duck, or Nuthamstead and a short stroll to the Woodman.

Isle of Wight / Sandown is really lovely as well, 10-15 minutes walk to city and beach, plenty of hotels and things to visit.

Sandown is now awesome since Dan took over love it. I have been to Keystone, lovely and very good food. The dabbling duck is in an even prettier Village and a favourite of mine too. next stop the woodman.

Thanks for the suggestions so far

No I have been to Crediton This year and Talybont last summer although it was a worry returning through the 1600ft cloud base, through the valleys, but Mr Williams Wynwyn, kindly guided me through with a preflight chat all the way to Welshpool where the clouds lifted.

    Have fun.

The restaurant at Retford Gamston is very good indeed but also fairly pricey. It's 15 to land. Not open every day so check before setting off.

Skegness airfield is a short bus ride in to town where there is always something happening. Plenty to eat, see and places to stay.

Not sure there is much to do but we visited Ghiga airfield in the summer during FlyUk. What a nice quiet place and the view is amazing. Would recommend this for a picnic location.

As mentioned earlier, Keyston and Great Massingham restaurants take some beating. Also quiet circuits which would be good for new pilots.
