    Ipad

Looking to purchase a ipad to use for flying, my question is does it need to have cellular or is it better to use a GPS dongle? Will a ipad air 2 be too big? What do you guys use?

    Dave,
Do you have a 2.1a USB ? The 1amp ones will charge (slowly) but wont charge if a GPS is running. This is the same for my phone as well as tablet, even in the car.
If I am ever on life support - switch me off and back on again - see if that works

I use a Hudl 2 with wifi but no cellular. I have skydemon on it. It's smaller than an ipad and is perfect for the job. Update weather info at home or at the airfield before take off (CFI Jim has wifi). All the apps & info necessary. I only use it for flying and nothing else. Good battery life....oh and its a whole lot cheaper than an ipad

Might a politely suggest a Pilot Aware unit? Then the wifi-only tablet (whether android or iOS) will take GPS info from the Pilot Aware...

yes andy i have the 2.1 amp usb but it still slowly drops ,i turn everything off thats not needed ie bluetooth/wifi etc . i have also tried a massive 2.1 amp usb rechargeable phone charger unit but its the same .

i might buy a honda petrol geni and replace the boss bag with it and put a sky dish on the king post with a 50 plasma on the base bar(all mod approved of course),pimp my trike lol
