    French ULM crashes on Initial Test Flight.

    Do any of our French members know anything about this accident? Date: 15-APR-2017 Time: 11:30LT Type: Ultralight Owner/operator: Private Registration: C/n / msn: Fatalities: Fatalities: 0 / Occupants: 1 Other fatalities: 0 Airplane damage: Written off (damaged beyond repair) Location: in a field near Genac - Charente - France Phase: Initial climb Nature: Test Departure airport: Private air strip Destination airport: Private air strip Narrative: The pilot (57) was testing for the first time his home-build Ultralight. The aircraft crashed in field for unknows reasons 300 meters after takeoff. There was a post impact fire. A friend, witness of the scene, carried first help. Pilot was serverly injured and burned and was transported to the hospital of Bordeaux by helicopter.,3096804.php

    First I've heard of it. From the update it appears he's not in a good way.
    Seems he's an experienced pilot (10 years) who home built a gyro.
    The three most useless things in aviation:
    • The air above you.
    • The runway behind you.
    • The fuel in the bowser.
