    Popham

Is there much interest in Popham this year ?

There doesn't seem to be much mention of it at all.

I'll probably be driving down as I'm without plane ATM and it's local. I know a few from the airfield were thinking of flying in.

It may have been helpful if the bmaa had given folk the correct date !
I spoke to them in February and they gave me the weekend 2 weeks earlier......not much help to me as I booked the wrong weeks holiday at work.
The internet had it as the following weekend, and Popham web site had it as the correct date, but when I rang Popham they were "unsure" and that was only the beginning of April.

The long and the short, several of us from the north of England hadn't got a clue when it was on

I believe so. If you're coming down from the North then you'll have a tailwind all the way down.

Those from the North will have a Headwind on the way down & a tailwind on way back.

Depends which day you go down and which you go back up. I should have added that if you go down Friday (tomorrow) then you'll have a tailwind.

I should add for future reference that whenever I've gone to Spamfield I've always gone down on the Friday as I'm staying for the weekend, and I assumed that people would do the same for Popham. But then again, I don't stay at Popham, I just go down for the Saturday, and there are normally quite a few tents and RV's parked around, so I guess I thought that people went on Friday and camped for the weekend. I went down to Popham in the Q last year, but due to not very good weather the place was deserted. I stuck around for a while and had a chat with Bill Brooks while he was getting the PulseR ready, but by lunchtime there were still only a few people about so I went home. Hopefully that won't be the case this year.

I'm hopefully flying down Saturday and flying back Saturday afternoon, looks like a slow flight down but a good tail wind home. Just hope plenty of people show up. It's a good day but there doesn't seem to be much interest this year which is a shame.

Last year quite a few club fly-ins were planned for one weekend, but were rolled over to the next weekend if the weather was bad......
I know it's a big event, with a lot of planning, but if exhibitors took this idea in mind I'm sure the same could happen even with big events.
