Ooooh, I'm not getting sucked into how I define sport, or even doing a copy/paste of the OED definition. I'm happy to be in the minority (perhaps a minority of one) but it's always been one of those things that bug me. Believe me, when I am getting chucked about in the wind, the rain and the snow in my little flexwing it certainly feels mentally and physically sporty enough.... but then again, I sometimes physically struggle reading Solzhenitsyn but would hardly call that a sport either.

It resonates with me along the same lines that some folk don't want to fly "microlights" and would rather fly the same thing under a different label and be a member of some sort of British Light Sports Aircraft Association rather than the good old bMaa.

Hey ho. Guess it takes all sort

ps.. as for religion. My wife tells me there is a god and since she hasn't been wrong about anything in her life then thats good enough for me!!

I was going to mention the time we landed on a completely deserted beach on Coll,
and when we got back late from the pub, nearly got stranded by the tide.
But I expect er, Snaggles will blow a gasket, so I won’t mention it.

    What about this bloke? Very low pass at Rayne, about 7 years ago . . . . . . . . . in a Vampire!
I remember Joan remarking at the time that it was ‘pretty awesome’ (or intellectual words to that effect)

On a minor point of pedantry, Joan, there is something a little oxymoronic about that comment.

Well, yes, but surely that was the intent? An oxymoron is a rhetorical device that uses an apparent contradiction to reveal a paradox.

I don't happen to agree with the point Joan is making, but I'll defend the way she is making it (to misquote Churchill or GBS or whoever it was).

I'm more concerned at the allegation that I made an intellectual remark about that Vampire.

Not a problem I've ever faced.
