    Quantum - 503 v 582

Apart from climb rate, are there any major advantages/disadvantages between the different Quantum engines?

About 18% more fuel used on a 503 for the same power output:

    see the g/kWh figures.

I have owned both the 503 and 582(quantum) performance is a lot better with the 582 but the down side was fuel burn 503 averaged 10/11 lt hour and 582 averaged 18/20 lt hour. Question which would I choose ? 582 all day long. Hope this helps

I own a Quantum 503. It is fine 1 up, climb rate is around 800 fpm solo. I rarely have a passenger, and when I do it is my 8 year old son, so he does not effect the climb rate as he is a skinny lad. I have taken on a couple occasions adult passengers and the climb rate is about 400-500 fpm, sluggish 2 up. In the cruise I cruise at around 56 mph and burn 11 lph. I'm happy with the 503, and the Quantum 503 will do me for another 2-3 years. After that I will have a look at going for a 912 Machine, Quik or GT-450, depending on funds at the time.

I have owned a 582 X-Air, Skyranger 912s, Pegasus XL 462 and Quantum 503. The Quantum 503 is a nice step up from the Pegasus XL, but I have really enjoyed both, and Flex Wing flying is where I see my future. Just wish I could fly more.
