Either that or it's a club strip which is not for profit.....
its just what rent and rates cost.

in UK airfields have no special exemption and are the same as any other industrial estate. So we pay commercial rental values, and then business rates at around 42% of rental value on top.

France has lots of municipal airfields on a different status and much lower business rates - but much higher social taxes. So space is cheaper but employing people more expensive - good for hangarage renting - not so good if the business employs people..

I dream of hangarage. I pay 960pa to keep my hangar banger on the grass outside... :-S

Hangar? Grass? You were lucky. All we had to fly from was a patch of mud...

    You lucky, lucky, *******s ...
The three most useless things in aviation:
    • The air above you.
    • The runway behind you.
    • The fuel in the bowser.

The best 3 things in life are a good landing, a good orgasm, and, a good bowel movement.
A night-time aircraft-carrier landing is one of the few opportunities in life where you get to experience all three simultaneously.
