    Base bar grips recommendations.

Im after a set of decent quality thickish foam grips for a Quik base bar. The grip thats on now is a handlebar tape thats wound on. Its far to shiney, unwinds itself, its hard to get a good grip of and its COLD. Whats out there that would be better than what Ive got at present??? G.

    Hello Gordon,

I use the grips which are used on Cricket Bats or Hockey Sticks. Probably similar to whats aleady on your base bar already. The grips are available in almost any colour you want and are available either online or via most sports shops. I change mine every 3-4 years as they get worn. To prvent the grips unwinding I remove the old grips, clean the base bar and then attach the new grips. I use matt black grip tape and when the grip has been attached I put some black insulation tape at each end. This secures the end of the grips to the base bar and prevents it unwinding. Job costs approx 5 and takes about 30 mins. The grips offer good comfort and importantly good grip.

I know you can buy replacement rubber bar grips direcy from P&M, so that is another option, although the sports grips are probably easier to attach. Hope this helps.

Put three grips on the base bar, the centre one prevents the bar sliding through whatever you use to secure the wing...

Thanks for the suggestions. Anyone any idea of the basebar diameter?

The p&m ones are good but tend to slip around a bit. I was wondering about putting some heat-shrink on first and then sliding the grips on over. Maybe I'll try that next time.
