    Hello from me

Hello. I'll introduce myself first...My name is Dave and I'm a copper living in the Dale's. Had my first flex wing flight in July and had a great time. Something I really want to get involved with👍I've got some lessons booked and ordered some reading material (Cosgrove). Really looking forward to learning something challenging. Any helpful tips and advice would be great....Thanks 😁

Welcome to the forums Dave. Best advice I could probably give you is enjoy every bit of your training. If you're looking for particular bits of advice regarding something specific - just open a thread and there's more than a few competent blokes (including current and ex instructors) that'd be happy to help you.

There's actually a couple of them and I admire and respect both very much .. although one of them is not quite active lately.

    Hi Diyan
There are many wise and knowledgeable lady pilots out there, but most of them wisely stay off forums like this one.

Any theories why that might be?

Hi Joan and I hope you are doing well.

There are many of them indeed however I could only guess as to why they stay off forums like this one. Probably very busy overall. On top of it I would also guess they prefer the "modern" and slightly easier way of online communication (i.e. Facebook Groups, WhatsApp groups and the list goes on). I also believe the anonymity on forums plays a big part as nowadays people are used to knowing who they talk with so they can relate when they eventually get to meet up at airfields. Also at times there's plenty of unnecessary banter going around on forums.

I'd love to see things from your perspective as a lady pilot yourself though. Why do you think they stay out?

Diyan, what proportion of posters on microlighting FB etc are women? Ask them why not on here... my local BWPA group communicate by email round-robin
