World Microlight Championships 2012 to be held in Spain

The World Microlight Championships Organisers have opened a selection process
between three excellent venues. The precandidates have been chosen on the following
    basis:
-Support from a medium size city. During the championship, the airfield chosen will be used solely for the competition.
    - Situated in the northern half of Spain, with a softer summer than the southern
part. Of course, it will be hot and dry.(33 ºC and 30% of humidity will be expected) but with cooler nights.
-Not far away of the French border.
-Flat and safe flying zone avaliable.

The Airfields that were 'shortlisted' were : Marugan / Matilla / Lerida.

Marugan Airfield has now been confirmed as the Airfield that is being used.

The proposed dates for WMC 2012 are August 7th to August 18th 2012

Hopefully Competitors from all of the Countries will submit teams and make this event go ahead

Microlights are restricted to 1000 feet above ground level in Spain, not that anyone takes any notice of course but are they going to amend that rule?

The Competitions are in the main under 1000ft AGL anyway I would think everything is up for flexibility for the prescribed period

What sort of tasks do they have to undertake? I'm only familiar with hang gliding comps where you usually have to either race between waypoints then to into goal, or have open distance tasks. What do microlights do in a competition?
