    Aircraft registrations

I have always wondered if people can choose their aircraft reg numbers and/or is there a list of available numbers and what is the process.

Mike, I go to g-info and type in various registrations to see if registrations are being used, just a bit of fun because i wont be able to purchase a new machine. I think if you contact the CAA they will tell you whats available.

As has been said, you can reserve a set of "out of sequence" reg from those not already issued, which will currently cost you 185 in addition to the standard fee of 69 (for up to 15000Kg!!!)

However, if when you fill out your registration application, you tick the "contact me" box (from memory in the registration number box) the nice people at the CAA will phone you and tell you the current sequences in use... usually around 4 (from memory) you can then choose the sequence and the last letters.. i.e they offer G-CG.... G-YO etc.

You can then ask if a particular reg is available ie Gee-Cee GOO (which is not!), or you can make a list of a few and call them back within the 69..

I'll have to pop down & take a piccie.
I saw an Edge Streak at Pound Green, G-LVPL & thought it should be based at Ince.
    Cheers

The problem with an out of sequence (private reg) is that it stays with the plane when you sell it. I could have bought g-cgWR for the quik for the extra dosh but ended up with G-CGRW for the standard fee.
fly high fly safe and may you always have the wind at your back
(except when taking off or landing according to Phil )
