What is the 10k award based on?

Ok, seems like a silly question but when hitting the 10000ft mark, are you using feet above ground level, sea level or flight level? Considering the transition altitude, I would say that this must be flight level. So what if that day was a low pressure day or you set off from some airfield at 500ft elevation.... Well you get what I mean

Good question technically, but I think if you get up there and pull your camera out for a photo you deserve the award!

I've not been above 7000 yet, not for any reason, just haven't needed to!

Probably will sometime this year and if all goes to plan, hope to step out of my GT450 at 6000 ft or above! That must deserve an award?

will the parachute fit over the romper suit?

Award is for 10k AMSL (QNH) but as with most awards available they are awarded on trust. If you say you have done your GST and have got your license for flex, then you get the award, no questions asked. 10k needs a photo but again, you could fiddle it if you was of that disposition.

Ok, thanks Vince. I was just pondering as I was reading up on Nav in prep for exam. Not really that bothered but thought it was worth discussing as it may it be not that often that micros get above transition level. We're all honest here aren't we?

That's the rub win this flying lark, you could have three separate aircraft on three separate pressure settings all flying the same altitude on a collision course and they're all legal.

Steve your a big girls blouse.Ive been to 7600ft in my old flash and the first decent weather I'm going for the ten.
