    My first plane: AX2000 G-MZIV

I took a day off last Friday to view this AX2000 in Desborough. It was advertised for quite a while on AFORS, but I was looking for faster birds. Once I figured out that I won't get the money for a Jabiru as soon as I hoped I just went for it

The test flight went very well, I managed to land it and take off comfortably from the right seat so.. I was hooked.

The next day (Saturday morning) I flew it back to my regular base - Clench Common. The first landing on my own was a bit emotional but it stopped after a surprisingly short distance, so after another 4-5 circuits and lands I had it !

Another check flight with my instructor and I was ready to take passengers. On Sunday I flew with a friend to Kemeys Commander (Usk "tank school") where she will stay in a hangar. I was lucky to find one in such a short notice.

There's a number of niggles to sort out but nothing major, plenty of time in the winter to sort it, so next year is looking to be brilliant !

    My first aircraft?

Well, if you promise not to tell anyone, its was a fl..., <cough>, erm a fle..., <choke>, <splutter>. <Clears throat> It was a - um - G-MYMX, a Quantum. Well, I couldn't afford a PROPER aircraft, so I bought it from Paul Dewhurst as his former competition machine. This was at Sywell, in '96. Mind you, it was the only aircraft I ever owned where the radio worked. (An ICOM A3)

    GMYMX-004 (2).jpg

It was slow*, cold & thirsty, but I thought it was the 'dog's bolleaux', as the French would say.

[* = realtively speaking, of course)....

I sold it to a Geordie chap; is it still about?

According to G-Info it's still flying

Second picture shows that someone has painted it… don't rate the paint job
